Apply updates
Mogick desktop will automatically check for new versions in the background, no manual operation is required. When a new version is discovered, a clear update entry will be given on the interface, and it is up to you to decide when to update.
Automatic check
Update checking happens silently in the background:
- Checked every time the app is launched.
- Periodic checks at fixed intervals during operation (default about 10 minutes).
When there is no new version, there will be no changes in the interface and it will not bother you.
Found new version
When a new version is checked, an "Update" button will appear in the upper right corner of the main interface**. It will not force a pop-up window to interrupt your current work; you can finish what you are doing first and then click on it.
Update pop-up window
Clicking the "Update" button will pop up an update prompt, including:
- Comparison of current version → new version.
- Release time and update package size.
- Scrollable update notes (new features / bug fixes / known issues).
- Eye-catching reminder: Updating immediately will close and restart the software, please save your current work first.
- Two buttons at the bottom: "Later" and "Update Now".
If the update notes fail to load, the pop-up window can still operate normally. The update notes area will display a downgrade placeholder and provide an entrance to view the release notes in the browser.
Update now and later
- Update now: The software will close, and the update program will download and install the new version in the background. After completion, it will automatically restart to the new version. Please save your current work before updating; historical sessions will be kept intact and can be continued after restarting.
- Later: Close the pop-up window and not update yet. The "Update" button will always be in the upper right corner, and you can click it again at any time to bring up the pop-up window.
Automatic-check setting
Use Settings → General to enable or disable background update checks. The current Help menu contains documentation, keyboard shortcuts, and About Mogick; it does not include a manual Check for updates entry.
Suggestions before updating
- Save the file being edited.
- Wait for the running session or terminal command to end.
- If the interface or connection status is abnormal after the update, you can restart Mogick first and then check Troubleshooting.
