Mogick CLI overview
Mogick CLI is the unified command-line runtime for MWORKS AI Agent. It runs in your local terminal, where it can read and modify project files, execute commands, and combine model reasoning with your existing development tools. This lets you handle code generation, debugging, refactoring, and other engineering tasks without leaving the terminal.
Entry Points
Mogick CLI provides three entry points for interactive development, automation, and host integration:
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
mogick | Start an interactive TUI for exploratory development and day-to-day work |
mogick run "PROMPT" | Run a non-interactive task, with support for piped input, scripts, and CI/CD workflows |
mogick acp | Start the stdio JSON-RPC runtime for IDEs, desktop applications, and other hosts |
For day-to-day development, run mogick to start an interactive session. Use mogick run when a script or CI pipeline needs to submit a task and consume the result without a TUI. Use mogick acp when embedding Mogick's agent runtime in another application.
Core Capabilities
Files and shell commands: Built-in tools such as file.read, file.write, file.edit, and shell.exec let the agent inspect the project, make targeted changes, and run commands in the relevant context.
Git integration: Built-in operations such as git.status, git.diff, git.log, and git.show give the agent repository context. In Agent mode, it can also use the shell to create branches or commits when the task requires them.
MCP integrations: Connect external tools and data sources through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), using stdio, HTTP, or SSE transports. MCP servers extend the agent beyond its built-in toolset.
Permission controls: Four permission policies (read, workspace, auto, and yolo) determine which tool calls run automatically and which require approval.
Session management: Create, resume, rename, close, and export sessions. You can interrupt a task and return to its saved conversation and tool history later.
Checkpoints and rollback: Mogick captures the previous state of affected files before it writes to them. Use /rewind to restore those files and truncate the conversation to the selected checkpoint.
Context compaction: Mogick automatically summarizes older conversation history as the model approaches its context limit. You can also trigger compaction with /compact; the complete session history remains stored locally.
L3 long-term memory: Cross-session retrieval and automatic extraction help the agent retain project conventions, user preferences, and key decisions over time.
Mogick CLI also includes optional experimental subagents (agent.task) for parallel, independent subtasks, background update checks with TUI prompts, and plugin capabilities that depend on installation and configuration.
Quick Start
These three commands cover the most common workflows:
# Start an interactive session
mogick
# Run a non-interactive task
mogick run "fix lint errors"
# Diagnose the environment
mogick doctorOn first use, run mogick doctor to check the environment before starting an interactive session.
Input and model controls
- Files and images: file references, clipboard images and capability limits.
- Reasoning effort: choose the model's supported effort and understand thinking configuration.
